Seeing Red

Dress: Banana Republic (similar) and (here) also (this dress) is an all-time favorite | booties: Vince Camuto
It feels like forever since I’ve posted on here! Things have been just crazy lately at our house – chasing after a now very-active toddler, projects at work and it seems like our weekends are always packed! The weather has been absolutely gorgeous, and it’s had me pulling out some of my favorite Fall pieces! I am usually cold, especially at work, so I love this time of year when I can wear long sleeves all day and be comfortable inside and outside!

In honor of Nola’s birthday, we had family photos taken by my long-time friend and extremely talented photographer, Leah Fry of Sentimental Soul Photography. I’ve raved before about Leah’s skills in capturing our family, and these photos are nothing short of breathtaking. No words I could write could do them justice, so I will let the photos speak for themselves. We are so thankful to Leah for these sweet pictures of our tiny toddler! Continue reading
Nola’s Birthday Brunch

Nola turned one this past Sunday, and we had such a blast celebrating her first year with family! We had a small brunch party with grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins, and it was so fun connecting with the people we love and who have shared in the joy of Nola’s first year with us!
Everything has Changed
“When I first felt her stirring inside of me, I was consumed with a terror that felt as old as life itself. Only the joy of holding her in my arms could tame it.” – Suzanne Collins | Mockingjay
In case I haven’t mentioned it, Nola’s birthday is this coming week, and I’m all kinds of nostalgic about it. I’m still having a hard time coming to terms with the fact that it’s been an entire year, yet at the same time, it feels like so much longer. It’s hard to imagine a time when she wasn’t here; our lives sharply divided into before and after. So much of that day is a blur, and I know it will only get worse as the years go on. So in honor of her last days as a baby, I’m revisiting that terrifying, chaotic, magical day when our little firecracker made her debut.
Adventures in Dallas

We arrived back home on Monday from our first Mommy & Me trip to Dallas, and it’s been a whirlwind this week getting back into the work/home routine! We had a wonderful time seeing my friend Chitra, and getting some much-needed relaxation and one on one time with this little peanut!
Firsts
Today is September 1st. To many people this date signifies a lot of things: the unofficial start of Fall; football; Pumpkin Spice; boot weather. This year, September 1st means that in a little more than 2 weeks, my first born baby girl will be a baby no longer. The first birthday looms just around the corner.
Boutique Style

This week I had the opportunity to style some looks at my favorite local boutique, Mint L.A! Fall is by far my favorite season for fashion, and when owner Rebekah Risbeck asked me to come in and put some Fall looks together, it took me all of 2 seconds to respond with an enthusiastic YES!!!
Peplum Stripes
Top: Nordstrom
I finally received the hottest item from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale – the highly coveted Ruffle Hem peplum blouse by BP! It seems like every single blogger I follow was going crazy over this top, and for good reason – it really is as cute in person as it was all over Instagram!
Fall on my Mind

Dress: Anthropologie
Now that we’re into the second week of August, it’s time to start thinking of all the end-of-Summer activities:the Iowa State Fair, the start of the school year, a certain baby girl’s 1st birthday, and of course, cooler Fall temps, rich colors and glorious fashion! Fall is my favorite time of year, and that includes all the cozy Fall styles! Continue reading
